A structured 12-month training programme designed to develop a pipeline for key operational roles within Transnet Port Terminals. Trainees will be placed in specific areas according to their academic background, career aspirations, and business needs. The role involves hands-on operational tasks, equipment handling, safety compliance, and using terminal operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily tasks as specified per equipment and handle commodities per operational requirements
• Complete logbooks, record equipment defects, and handle data terminals
• Maintain work-related radio communication and monitor equipment performance
• Report incidents, accidents, and daily operational occurrences
• Operate safety equipment (eg, fire extinguisher) and adhere to all terminal safety policies
• Operate the terminal operating system (Navis), follow on-screen directives, and acknowledge task completion

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirement: Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• Advantageous: TVET N6 in Logistics or Transport
• Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
• Technical: Knowledge of Terminal Safety Rules, cargo types, equipment, and terminal layout; Computer Literacy
• Operational: Defensive Driving, Hand-eye coordination, Depth perception
• Professional: Communication, Time management, Problem solving, Good judgement, Ethical, Punctual, Safety & Deadline driven, Team player
