Description

A specialist accounting role focused on inventory and results accounting within the oil and gas industry. The accountant is responsible for performing monthly inventory reconciliations, price change validations, stock analytics, gains/losses analysis, and ensuring compliance with HSE policies, SOX controls, and financial governance. The role involves high transaction volumes and working with integrated systems like SAP.

Responsibilities

• HSE: Manage and minimise HSE risks, ensure compliance, and promote a safe working environment
• Product Accounting: Perform monthly inventory reconciliations, price change validations, stock evolution analytics, gains/losses analysis (NBE Mass Balance), PRC calculations, pricing revaluations, and exchange revaluations
• Governance: Ensure 100% SOX control compliance, reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, review inventory reconciliations, comply with departmental procedures, and ensure all journal entries are correct and approved
• Reporting: Report on inventory exposures (volume & value), audit risks, and any identified control deficiencies
• Process Integrity: Constantly question oil flow processes, perform root cause analysis, and ensure the integrity of postings from material management to the general ledger

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in BCom, Management Accounting, or relevant business experience
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Industry Knowledge: Good knowledge of the oil industry is an advantage
• Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of IFRS and SAP is required
