Description

A software development role to develop, modify, and maintain general computer applications or specialised utility programs. The developer will analyse user needs, design software solutions to optimise operational efficiency, monitor and correct software defects, ensure information security, and maintain an application software roadmap aligned with business requirements in the financial services sector.

Responsibilities

• Development: Develop existing and new applications by analysing areas for improvement and meeting customer requirements
• Maintenance: Monitor, identify, and correct software defects to maintain fully functioning applications
• Testing: Perform routine software tests and respond to call logs to diagnose and correct performance issues
• Security: Implement required security measures (data leak prevention, encryption, monitoring) and alert security experts to problems
• Roadmap & Compliance: Maintain an application software roadmap; ensure work adheres to organisational policies and regulatory codes
• Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes/systems and use change management to address them
• Customer Service: Handle complex customer cases and enquiries
• Capability Building: Participate in training, maintain professional accreditations, and stay updated on technology and industry best practices

Qualifications

• Education:
• Grade 12 / SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential)
• A recognised software development certification, degree, or diploma (Essential)
• Experience:
• 3 or more years of experience using relevant programming languages or technologies (Essential)
• Azure experience is advantageous
• Skills: Knowledge of software development life cycle, testing, information security principles, and operational compliance
