Description

To gather, analyze, and derive insights from client financial information to assess credit risk. The role involves in-depth research on client businesses, industries, and legislation, with a specific focus on Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) such as insurance companies, asset managers, funds, and exchanges. The analyst is responsible for preparing comprehensive credit applications, managing a portfolio, and ensuring compliance with credit facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality credit applications, assessing risks, and applying credit ratings and frameworks
  • Perform detailed financial analysis and interpret the results clearly
  • Manage credit limits, new requests, and annual reviews for an assigned portfolio of counterparties
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with approved facilities (covenants, excesses)
  • Update credit systems and assist with monitoring and exception reporting
  • Service relationships with business partners to support credit objectives
  • Present credit applications and analysis to credit executives and committees
  • Assist with peer reviews of credit applications

Qualifications

  • Education: A B Com (Hons), CA(SA), CFA, or similar qualification
  • Experience:
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years’ experience in Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) credit or similar credit analysis
  • Solid experience in banking and financial markets
  • Previous experience interacting with business stakeholders, credit committees, and clients
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to perform detailed financial analysis, forecasting, and ratio analysis
  • Good understanding of banking and global markets, products, and their inherent credit risks
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and deal with complexity
  • Proactive, with ownership and accountability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to present confidently to credit executives and committees
