A learnership opportunity with one of the world's largest water utilities, aimed at unemployed individuals seeking to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in water and wastewater reticulation services. The programme combines on-the-job training with classroom learning to develop critical skills in the water sector, aligned with South Africa's National Skills Development Strategy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater reticulation systems
• Support the installation, repair, and maintenance of water pipelines and sewer networks
• Assist with leak, blockage, and pipe burst detection and reporting
• Participate in meter reading and basic meter maintenance
• Monitor water pressure and flow within the distribution system
• Assist with excavation, pipe laying, and site reinstatement
• Support routine inspection of valves, hydrants, and manholes
• Adhere to occupational health and safety procedures
• Attend classes, complete assignments, and participate in practical activities
• Maintain a practical logbook and write assessments

Qualifications

• Age: Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
• Citizenship: South African citizen with a valid SA ID
• Education: Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science
• Must have a minimum of Level 3 (40-49%) in ALL subjects
• Employment Status: Must not be employed
• Academic Status: Must not be enrolled in any other qualification or learnership
• Qualification Status: Must not be in possession of a completed post-matric qualification
• (NB: Failure to disclose such qualifications will result in disqualification)
