FNB is seeking a Data Engineer I to join its dynamic and innovative data team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective movement, collection, integration, storage, and provisioning of data to meet business objectives. This role requires collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Database and Solution Architects, Business Intelligence Developers, Data Scientists, and Product Owners to deliver scalable and high-quality data solutions. The ideal candidate will contribute to building and maintaining data pipelines, supporting analytics initiatives, ensuring compliance with governance policies, and optimising data infrastructure for performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, and deploy scalable data pipelines across the bank
• Perform ETL processes into Reservoir and Enterprise Data Warehouse
• Develop and maintain physical data marts and databases
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists, and analysts to deliver analytics-ready data
• Implement automated deployments and task scheduling frameworks
• Conduct system testing, UAT management, and change control processes
• Monitor and optimise data infrastructure for performance and scalability
• Implement data quality checks and ensure compliance with governance and security policies
• Research and recommend emerging technologies
• Support advanced analytics and big data initiatives
• Participate in architecture forums and contribute to technical solution design

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or BTech equivalent
• 3–5 years relevant experience in data engineering or related field
