Description

A professional receptionist position within a dynamic national park environment. The role involves managing front-of-house operations, handling guest communications, processing reservations, and providing administrative support. The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring a warm welcome and efficient service while maintaining professional standards aligned with SANParks' conservation and hospitality ethos.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and route telephone calls promptly; relay messages efficiently
  • Communicate clearly with guests, providing accurate information about park facilities and activities
  • Greet visitors warmly and manage check-in/check-out using the computerized reservation system
  • Receive incoming documents and deliveries, notifying relevant employees without delay
  • Capture additional charges and ensure outstanding payments are collected per company policy
  • Assist guests with reservation changes, special requests, and closing work shifts on the reservation system
  • Coordinate and address guest requests and complaints promptly and efficiently
  • Carry out general administrative tasks related to Reception and the Entrance Gate
  • Perform ad-hoc administrative duties as requested by the Duty Manager
  • Oversee and manage visitor bookings accurately
  • Undertake Gate Official or Gate Administrator responsibilities when required
  • Comply with the company's dress code and established protocols at all times

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Grade 12 (Std 10) qualification or equivalent certification
  • NQF Level 5 qualification in Office Management and Technology, Office Administration, or Secretarial Studies
  • Experience:
  • 2–3 years of front office experience within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry (office administration or office assistant duties)
  • 1–2 years of experience as a receptionist or switchboard operator in a tourism/hospitality environment (advantageous)
  • Skills:
  • Strong telephone etiquette and effective people skills
  • Solid administrative and sound interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel (proof of competency required)
  • Other: Valid Driver's License
