Description

The Manager of Policy and Planning will oversee policy development and strategic planning within political frameworks. The role involves advising the Executive Mayor and managing Integrated Development Planning processes, ensuring alignment with the city’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• The primary function of this role is to manage policy development and strategic planning within political constraints, advising the executive Mayor and Mayoral committee to achieve Mayoral priorities
• Key performance areas include supporting the Assistant Director: Policy & Planning, providing input and leadership oversight of Integrated Development Planning processes, developing stakeholder engagement strategies, planning and managing research projects, complying with relevant legislation, and managing subdivision assets and resources effectively
• Leading competencies include computer literacy, communication, writing, time management, confidentiality, and working with senior management and stakeholders
• Core competencies include knowledge of local, provincial, and national political and legislative frameworks and public policy

Qualifications

• Matric Certificate/Grade 12 Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field (NQF level 7) 5–7 years of experience in relevant sectors
