The Graphic Design/Communications Internship is designed for creative individuals with a passion for visual storytelling and public relations. Interns will work within DIRCO’s communications team, helping to design and develop content that promotes South Africa’s international image. This role involves using graphic design software and communication strategies to create materials that align with the department’s mission and outreach efforts. Interns will also contribute to digital marketing campaigns and assist in managing DIRCO’s presence on social media and other communication platforms.

Responsibilities

• Interns will be responsible for creating visually appealing content, including brochures, infographics, presentations, and digital media assets
• They will collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all materials
• Interns will also assist in drafting press releases, writing blog posts, and creating social media content that engages both domestic and international audiences
• Other duties include supporting the planning of public relations events and helping manage media relations
• Interns will also have the opportunity to work on special projects related to the department’s digital communications strategy

Qualifications

• A qualification in Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field is required
• Candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as the role involves creating content that conveys the department’s message clearly and effectively
• Candidates should also be familiar with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies
• Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work within tight deadlines are key attributes for success in this role
