Description

The purpose of higher education study grants is to provide financial support to students with limited resources, enabling them to cover the costs of higher education. Grants are awarded for the entire academic year and are paid in monthly installments, typically over 10 months. This program is available to students in public or private higher education, and specific grants for doctorates are awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

Responsibilities

• Meeting academic performance and enrollment requirements throughout the academic year
• Providing accurate information about household income and property when applying for the grant
• Using the grant funds to cover education-related costs such as tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a higher vocational technical course (CTESP), a bachelor’s degree, integrated master’s, or master’s degree, equivalent to at least 30 ECTS credits
• Not hold a diploma or degree higher than the one for which they are applying
• Be up to date with tax and social security obligations
• The total annual income of the household must be less than EUR 11,049

• The application process is entirely online. To apply: Access the student’s reserved area on the DGES website using your login credentials. Submit the required documents, including tax identification numbers (NIF and NISS), bank account details, tax returns, and proof of rent or home ownership if applicable. Apply within the deadlines, between June 25th and September 30th, or within 20 days of enrollment if registering after September 30th
