Description

As a Junior Industrial Engineer, you will play a key role in improving business processes and operational efficiency across various city departments and functions. This role focuses on analyzing and enhancing operational workflows to align with industry best practices and achieving measurable business improvements. The position involves identifying opportunities for cost savings, quality improvement, and increased efficiency, as well as presenting these findings to stakeholders to secure approval for project implementation. You will work closely with a range of departments and stakeholders, ensuring that changes made lead to significant improvements in service delivery and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Process Analysis: Develop an in-depth understanding of operational business processes, systems, and practices across various city departments and functions
  • Business Improvements: Identify, analyze, and implement process improvements aimed at efficiency gains, cost savings, enhanced quality, or improved customer service
  • Innovation and Redesign: Design and reimagine business operating models, aligning them with industry best practices and modern technological advancements
  • Business Case Development: Translate identified opportunities into detailed business cases, emphasizing potential benefits and presenting them to stakeholders for prioritization
  • Project Implementation: Design, manage, and operate implementation programs for approved projects, ensuring they meet business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes
  • Performance Monitoring: Identify and monitor key performance measures related to improvements and ensure these are tracked after project implementation
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster objective working relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their input is considered and their support is secured for proposed changes
  • Industry Expertise: Stay up-to-date with municipal legislative amendments, industry trends, and technological advancements to maintain expert knowledge relevant to the role

Qualifications

  • A BSc or BEng in Industrial Engineering
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in a similar role
