The General Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive customer service within the store. Duties include merchandising stock, maintaining shelf price labeling, and upholding housekeeping standards in designated areas. This role requires attention to safety standards, customer satisfaction, and efficient stock management.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Advise and assist customers on products and queries; handle and resolve customer complaints
• Merchandising Standards: Ensure safe, organized merchandising according to store layout and planograms
• Housekeeping: Keep the area obstacle-free, ensuring prompt merchandise placement and accurate shelf labeling
• Safety Requirements: Adhere to OHSA compliance, ensuring safe movement within the store
• Manage Stock Loss: Report damaged stock to the Store Manager
• Drive for Results: Meet targets, ensure quality, and follow through on commitments
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues, escalating as necessary
• Decision-Making: Make decisions within company policy framework, considering outcomes
• Planning: Organize tasks within operational policies and procedures
• Handle Pressure: Maintain consistency under workload and time constraints
• Collaborate: Show courtesy and resolve conflicts effectively
• Communication: Share relevant information courteously with customers, suppliers, and colleagues

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without related work experience
• Proficiency in English and the primary local language
• Valid South African ID or work permit
• Basic calculation skills
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure
