Description

The Manager: Generation Development & Municipal Energy Efficiency is responsible for managing the development and implementation of power generation and energy efficiency projects that align with the City’s strategic objectives. The role includes managing Independent Power Producer (IPP) programmes, overseeing DoRA-funded projects, and developing innovative solutions to support the City’s clean energy objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage portfolios of power generation and energy efficiency projects
  • Oversee IPP programmes and conclude Power Purchase Agreements with Independent Power Producers
  • Research, design, and implement innovative clean energy programmes
  • Manage DoRA funds, ensure proposals, reports, and reconciliations are completed
  • Represent the Department at Stage Gate Review Committees, advising on project development
  • Support Directorate-level strategies and branch-level implementation
  • Monitor funding and expenditure compliance within branch projects
  • Lead branch resources to meet performance metrics and objectives
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Disseminate functional and operational updates to Senior Management and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Relevant B degree (BSc (Eng)/BEng in Engineering)
  • Registration as a Pr Eng with ECSA
  • Postgraduate management qualification (advantageous)
  • Over 10 years of relevant post-registration experience
  • Extensive managerial experience leading diverse professional teams
