The East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) is offering bursaries for the 2025 academic year to encourage students from the Eastern Cape to pursue undergraduate studies in Mathematics, Science, Technology, and related fields. The bursary provides financial assistance to deserving students, contributing to building scarce resources in the province.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum average of 60% in final exams to renew the bursary annually
• Participate in vacation work at ELIDZ during mid-year or end-of-year holidays
• Attend progress monitoring interviews during the bursary period
• Sign a Bursary Agreement with ELIDZ

Qualifications

• Be a South African citizen or a naturalized South African citizen
• Be between the ages of 16 and 25
• Reside within the Eastern Cape province, in a township or village
• Have completed Matric with: A minimum of 60% in Mathematics (NOT Mathematical Literacy), A minimum of 60% in all other subjects
• Be studying or intending to study full-time for an undergraduate qualification in Mathematics, Science, Technology, or related fields in 2025
• Have applied and been accepted/provisionally accepted at a recognized and accredited South African university
• Plan to pursue postgraduate studies after completing the undergraduate degree
• Be from a disadvantaged background and in financial need (a financial needs assessment will be conducted)
• Not be receiving any other bursary funding or be under obligation to another bursary provider
• Students living with disabilities, as well as those from historically disadvantaged and rural communities, are encouraged to apply
