The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is looking for talented postgraduates to join its one-year Data Science Graduate Development Programme starting in February 2026. This programme aims to develop deep capabilities in advanced analytics within central banking. Graduates will be placed in the Business Systems and Technology Department at the SARB and will work in a Data Lab environment, participating in various technical training and hands-on projects throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Attend learning interventions at the SARB Academy
• Receive technical training relevant to data science and central banking
• Work on various data science use cases in a Data Lab environment

Qualifications

• Proficiency in R and/or Python
• South African citizenship
• A curious, innovative, and self-motivated personality with strong analytical skills
• A proven track record of academic excellence, with an average mark of 70% or above
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Fintech experience is advantageous
