As an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Intern at the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR), you will participate in a 24-month internship program designed to provide practical experience in various aspects of ICT within the organization. This program aims to enhance your skills and prepare you for future career opportunities in the field.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing support to end-users, and ensuring the smooth operation of ICT systems
• Network Maintenance: Participate in monitoring and maintaining network systems, including servers, routers, and other networking equipment, to ensure optimal performance and security
• Software Development Assistance: Support the development and maintenance of software applications, including coding, testing, and debugging under the guidance of senior developers
• Data Management: Assist in managing databases, ensuring data integrity, and supporting data analysis initiatives
• Cybersecurity Support: Contribute to implementing and monitoring cybersecurity measures to protect organizational data and systems
• Documentation: Help in creating and updating technical documentation, user manuals, and standard operating procedures

Qualifications

• Educational Qualifications: Possess a National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• A postgraduate qualification is advantageous
• Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen
• Previous Internship Participation: Should not have previously participated in an internship programme at any public or private institution
• Academic Performance: A minimum average of 65% in the final year of study is required

• If applicable, include SAQA accreditation for foreign qualifications
