Discovery Health is looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join their Risk Intelligence team. This team is dedicated to measuring and reporting on clinical experience for client schemes and providing analytical support for managed care, provider contracting, and more. The successful candidate will work with large datasets to uncover insights, create predictive models, and improve client services. Responsibilities

• Connect with various stakeholders to understand data in both healthcare and operational contexts
• Mine large datasets to uncover new insights for operational efficiency and customer experience
• Deliver clear, actionable results within tight deadlines
• Use data to provide insights through predictive modelling, visualisations, and advanced SQL scripting
• Present data and findings in an insightful, business-friendly manner

Qualifications

• Honours or Master’s degree in Statistics or Applied Mathematics
• Honours or Master’s degree in Computer Science with relevant experience in statistical modelling, data mining, and machine learning
• Other analytical qualifications may be considered with relevant experience
• Prior analytical work experience in the financial or healthcare industry is advantageous
• Proficient in R, Python, or Scala
• Strong SQL and data manipulation skills
• Analytical and statistical expertise
• Skilled in interactive data exploration and storytelling through data
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
