DSFSI (Data Science for Society & Innovation) is a transdisciplinary research lab dedicated to advancing African-centered data science with a strong focus on social impact. Our work operates at the intersection of Data Science for Society, where we develop tools and insights to support evidence-based decision-making in the public interest, and Local Language Natural Language Processing (NLP), where we create technologies that promote African languages through inclusive, culturally grounded approaches. The lab brings together researchers, students, and collaborators committed to addressing real-world challenges in areas like public health, education, social justice, and language inclusion, ultimately aiming to build a future where data science serves the public good and empowers African communities.
