DLK Group is seeking a motivated Junior Data Migration Specialist to join our dynamic IT Services team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a solid foundation in Oracle databases who is eager to gain hands-on experience in complex data migration projects. You will work alongside senior experts to ensure the accurate, secure, and efficient transfer of data between systems, playing a critical role in the success of our client deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, design, and execution of data migration activities within Oracle environments
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
• Conduct pre-migration database assessments to identify issues and recommend solutions
• Execute migration tasks, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the process
• Perform post-migration validation and reconciliation to confirm data completeness and correctness
• Collaborate with senior database administrators, developers, and business analysts to ensure seamless integration
• Provide technical support during migration and troubleshoot any related issues
• Document all migration procedures, configurations, and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and future projects
• Adhere to established ICT governance standards and quality assurance guidelines

Qualifications

• Minimum: A 3-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor's degree in an ICT-related field (eg, Computer Science, Software Development, Information Technology)
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience working with Oracle databases; exposure to data migration projects is highly advantageous
• A relevant Oracle certification will be a strong advantage
• Practical knowledge of Oracle database architecture, tools, and SQL
• Familiarity with database migration methodologies and ETL concepts
• Strong problem-solving skills and impeccable attention to detail
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Must be a team player with the ability to follow established processes effectively
