Description

The Oracle PL/SQL Developer role is a full-time position based in KwaZulu-Natal, offering a salary between R60,000 – R70,000. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Oracle-based systems supporting agricultural research, developing robust PL/SQL modules, optimizing database performance, and ensuring data integrity. This role requires at least 3 years of Oracle PL/SQL experience, proficiency in Oracle Forms/Reports, APEX, and JDeveloper, and a solid understanding of relational databases, JavaScript, and agile methodologies. A BSc in Computer Science or B-Tech in IT is essential, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Experience with tools like JIRA, SharePoint, and automated testing is also advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance existing Oracle-based systems and develop new modules
• Analyze user requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement robust PL/SQL solutions
• Build complex queries, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity
• Provide user support, assist with data extraction, and guide documentation efforts
• Collaborate with agricultural researchers to deliver user-driven system improvements

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or B-Tech in Information Technology
• Formal Oracle programming training preferred
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Oracle PL/SQL development
• Proficient in Oracle Forms/Reports (6i/10g), Oracle APEX, and JDeveloper
• Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and relational database design
