Description

The Departmental Heads Leadership Development Programme by Teach The Nation (TTN) is a fully funded, two-year initiative aimed at empowering Departmental Heads in public primary and high schools across the Western Cape. The programme focuses on developing leadership capacity through Conscious Leadership (CL) and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), enabling educators to drive transformation in their schools and communities. Participants will receive coaching, classroom support, and leadership training aligned with South Africa’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Personnel Administrative Measures (PAM). The programme fosters a collaborative culture of excellence, improves learner outcomes, and equips educators to become influential change-makers in the public education system.

Responsibilities

Lead curriculum planning and subject team performance improvement
Mentor teachers and serve as an instructional coach within your school
Use learner data to inform teaching strategies and drive academic achievement
Foster a collaborative and high-performing school culture
Participate in coaching sessions, classroom observations, and community of practice meetings
Design and implement Community Impact Projects
Share learner academic progress and participate in stakeholder surveys
Attend the Summer Institute and complete all development assignments

Qualifications

Currently employed as a Departmental Head in a public primary or high school
Hold a BEd or PGCE qualification
Based in the Western Cape province
Aged between 22 and 40 years
Have 1 to 3 years of experience as a Departmental Head
Qualified to teach in Foundation, Intermediate, Senior, or Further Education and Training (FET) phases
Qualified to teach subjects including STEM, Languages, IT, Coding, or Robotics
Registered South African citizen
SACE registered or have proof of application
