The Actuarial Analyst role within Hollard Health’s Underwriting department focuses on producing and analysing quotes for new and renewal health insurance business, while assessing risks to ensure portfolio sustainability. The analyst will play a key role in health insurance product pricing, risk modelling, competitor analysis, and underwriting support. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to Hollard’s mission of improving healthcare access across Africa.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely preparation, submission, and reporting of book rated new and renewal quotes
• Construction and maintenance comprehensive reports to give insights on key Underwriting KPIs
• Provide underwriting support in the preparation and submission of experience rated quotes and renewals
• Apply actuarial modelling techniques, statistical methodologies, and other analytical technical skills to extract meaningful insights on future trends and expectations within the medical insurance space
• Implementation and reporting of hit ratios and other relevant quote statistics
• Assistance with ad-hoc projects as and when needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or similar (Honours preferred)
• At least 5 IFOA/ASSA Core Principle exams passed (or equivalent)
• 1–2 years’ actuarial/insurance-related experience
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel) skills
• Working knowledge of Power BI, Power Pivot, Power Query
