Description

This internship aligns with the Cabinet-approved public service graduate programme (established December 2002) to build workplace skills for unemployed graduates. Participants will gain hands-on experience in innovation and collaboration initiatives, likely involving software development and collaborative projects. Successful candidates must sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement. CIPC emphasizes equal opportunity and affirmative action, with preference for candidates enhancing employment equity goals. Responsibilities

  • Developing and prototyping software solutions or tools to enhance collaborative platforms, such as IP registration systems or stakeholder engagement apps, drawing on hackathon-inspired agile methodologies
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify innovation opportunities, including research into emerging technologies (e

  • , AI for IP analytics) and contributing to proof-of-concept projects
  • Assisting in the implementation of data-driven initiatives, like building dashboards or APIs for better internal collaboration and external partnerships in line with CIPC's modernization strategy
  • Participating in innovation workshops, testing user feedback loops, and documenting processes to support a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • Supporting awareness and education efforts through tech-enabled content, such as developing interactive modules on IP innovation for businesses and graduates

Qualifications

  • Unemployed South African citizen
  • Aged 18-35 years
  • Completed Degree or National Diploma in Computer Science with Software Development and Programming
  • Minimum aggregate of 75% or above
  • Participation in at least one hackathon
  • No prior work experience
  • No previous participation in an internship programme
  • Higher education institution graduate with degree/diploma
