Description

This internship aligns with the Cabinet-approved public service graduate programme (established December 2002) to build workplace skills for unemployed graduates. Participants will gain hands-on experience in health, safety, and environmental management within CIPC's operations. Successful candidates must sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement. CIPC emphasizes equal opportunity and affirmative action, with preference for candidates enhancing employment equity goals. Feedback is provided only to shortlisted applicants, and CIPC reserves the right not to fill the position. Qualifications and SA citizenship will be verified; foreign qualifications require SAQA evaluation. Candidates must be available for interviews as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies, including conducting regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards
• Maintaining safety records, incident reports, and compliance documentation to ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and environmental standards
• Assisting in the development and delivery of safety training programs or awareness sessions for staff, focusing on emergency preparedness and environmental sustainability practices
• Participating in environmental audits, waste management initiatives, and pollution control measures to promote eco-friendly operations in the Sunnyside office
• Collaborating with facilities teams to enforce safety protocols, such as equipment maintenance checks and response to incidents, while contributing to continuous improvement of the health and safety management system

Qualifications

• Unemployed South African citizen
• Aged 18-35 years
• Completed Diploma in Safety Management (NQF Level 6)
• B Tech or Advanced Diploma in Safety Management (NQF Level 7) – advantageous
• No prior work experience
• No previous participation in an internship programme
• Higher education institution graduate with diploma
