Description

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) in South Africa is offering bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing heritage-related qualifications. This is a fully funded government bursary designed to help develop expertise in fields that preserve, promote, and manage South African cultural, historical, and heritage resources.

Responsibilities

  • Certified copy of your SA ID
  • Proof of provisional acceptance or registration for 2026
  • Certified matric certificate and/or latest academic transcript
  • Certified proof of your parents’/guardian’s income
  • Latest certified payslip (if applicable)
  • Proof of disability (if applicable)
  • Affidavit confirming authenticity of income documents
  • Covered Expenses:
  • Tuition fees: 100% paid to the institution
  • Prescribed textbooks: fully covered
  • Electronic device: up to R10 000 (for laptop/tablet)
  • Accommodation: up to R50 000 (if needed)
  • Meals: up to R18 500
  • Transport: up to R10 000

Qualifications

  • South African citizen
  • 40 years old or younger
  • Full-time student in 2026 (either newly accepted or already studying)
  • Minimum academic average of 65%
  • Study at a DHET-accredited institution
  • Your chosen qualification must be heritage-related
  • Not already funded by another bursary
  • Not fully employed earning more than R130 000 per year
