This bursary is available for first-year students starting tertiary studies in 2026 and current bursary holders residing in the Johannes Phumani Phungula Municipality who are enrolled in recognized institutions. It prioritizes fields such as Finance Management, Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, and Agriculture. The bursary covers tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, and meals to alleviate financial barriers, enabling students to concentrate on their education.

Responsibilities

• To be considered, you must submit all of these:
• Certified copy of your valid Matric certificate
• Certified copy of your South African ID (Smart ID/green bar-coded)
• Proof of acceptance/registration at a recognised tertiary institution for 2026
• Institution fee structure and banking details
• Correct contact details
• Signed bursary application form (dated and stamped by your ward councillor)
• This is a full municipality bursary covering key academic expenses:
• Tuition fees
• Prescribed textbooks
• Accommodation
• Meals

Qualifications

• This bursary is meant for:
• First-year students entering tertiary studies in 2026, and Existing bursary holders continuing their studies
• Who reside within the Johannes Phumani Phungula Municipality area and have been accepted at a recognised tertiary institution
• Financial assistance is focused on municipal priority skills, including:
• Finance Management / Accounting Studies
• Town Planning
• Civil Engineering
• Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
• Agriculture
