Description

The Ashinaga Initiative for Africa (AIA) is an international leadership program aimed at developing the next generation of leaders who can contribute to the development of sub-Saharan Africa. AIA Scholars are students who have lost one or both parents and are committed to returning home or to the sub-Saharan African region to drive change, innovation, and development. The program provides full financial support to study at a university in France, covering tuition fees, accommodation, travel, and other necessary costs for bachelor's and/or master's studies.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the two one-year preparatory programs to ensure university admission and readiness
  • Commit to returning to sub-Saharan Africa to drive positive change and contribute to its socio-economic development after graduation
  • Maintain good academic standing and uphold the leadership values of the AIA program

Qualifications

  • To be eligible, students must:
  • Have lost their father, mother, or both
  • Hold citizenship and have completed or will complete secondary education in one of the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon (French-speaking), Central African Republic, Comoros, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Seychelles, Chad, and Togo
  • Be under 23 years old for bachelor's degree applications and under 25 years old for master's degree applications
  • Have completed secondary education and obtained their baccalaureate (technical, technological, and professional baccalaureates are not accepted)
  • Have consistently ranked among the top of their class during high school
  • Students scoring below 14/20 on the baccalaureate exam have limited chances of acceptance
  • Demonstrate financial need to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Speak French fluently
  • Be able to participate in Ashinaga’s two one-year preparatory programs (unless already admitted to a French university with a tuition fee exemption)
  • Commit to returning to sub-Saharan Africa to contribute to the development of society after graduation
  • Be in good health and able to study internationally

Application instructions:

  • The application process for the Ashinaga Africa Initiative involves two stages: Registration: Confirm your eligibility by registering for the program. Eligible students will receive an application form via email. Application: Submit the required documents, including personal identification, academic transcripts, a letter of recommendation, and proof of orphan status.
