Description

The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation offers bursaries to first-year South African students pursuing degrees at traditional public universities. This programme supports studies in fields that align with the critical skills needs of the country, including commercial sciences, engineering, information sciences, and more. The foundation aims to provide local bursaries to increase access to quality education and help address youth unemployment in South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Pursue a first undergraduate degree in an eligible field, including but not limited to:
  • Agricultural Sciences: All specialisations
  • Commercial Sciences: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, Financial Management
  • Engineering: All specialisations
  • Information Sciences: Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology
  • Social Sciences and Law: Society and Sustainability, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Law
  • Natural Sciences: Biosciences, Electronics, Physics
  • Mathematical Sciences: Mathematics, Risk, Statistics
  • Arts: Psychology

Qualifications

  • Black South African citizen, as defined by the BBBEE Act
  • Currently in Grade 12 or completed Grade 12 not more than three years ago
  • Minimum level 5 in Grade 12 Mathematics
  • Age 21 or younger in the first year of study
  • Provisional admission into a full-time degree programme at a South African public traditional university
  • Family combined gross annual income not exceeding R600,000
