Responsibilities

  • As a recipient of the GYN (Green Youth Network) Bursary, you are expected to: Maintain Academic Excellence: Achieve satisfactory academic performance (minimum 60% average)
  • Submit semester results to GYN for review and continued funding eligibility
  • Promote Sustainability: Actively participate in initiatives that align with GYN's mission, such as recycling projects, environmental campaigns, or community outreach programs
  • Develop innovative solutions to address environmental challenges, particularly in recycling and waste management
  • Community Engagement: Represent GYN at events, workshops, or seminars to inspire and empower other young individuals passionate about sustainability
  • Conduct awareness sessions on the importance of environmental preservation within your community or institution
  • Personal and Professional Development: Attend any mandatory training sessions, workshops, or conferences arranged by GYN
  • Actively seek internships, practical experience, or research opportunities in fields like recycling, waste management, or sustainability
  • Reporting and Accountability: Provide regular updates to GYN regarding your academic progress and involvement in environmental initiatives
  • Submit a final report or presentation summarizing how the bursary has contributed to your academic and career growth

Qualifications

  • To qualify, applicants must: Be South African citizens
  • Be enrolled or plan to enroll in a relevant course (minimum 12 months)
  • Have a minimum of 65% in Grade 12 relevant subjects
  • Maintain a minimum average of 60% (current university students)
  • Study at an accredited institution registered with the DHET
