The Shoprite Biological and Agricultural Sciences Bursary aims to attract and fund talented students in the Biological and Agricultural Sciences field. Graduates will have the opportunity to join Shoprite’s Freshmark team, contributing to food safety, quality control, and sustainable agricultural practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis in biological and agricultural sciences
• Assist in food safety, microbiological testing, and quality assurance
• Work with suppliers to ensure the best agricultural practices
• Support plant pathology and pest control efforts
• Analyze genetic and biotechnology applications in food production
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and food safety standards
• Develop innovative solutions for agricultural sustainability
• Monitor and improve supply chain efficiency in fresh food products
• Collaborate with experts in botany, zoology, and microbiology
• Gain hands-on experience in Shoprite’s Freshmark division

Qualifications

• BSc Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Botany, Zoology, Genetics and Biotechnology, and any Agricultural degree
• 60%+ Aggregate
• 2nd, 3rd or 4th academic year
• SA citizen
• 27 years old and younger
