Description

The Amazon Recruitment Bursary is a full funding opportunity launched in 2018 by the Amazon Development Centre for students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. It supports students pursuing careers in software development by covering tuition, accommodation, books, transport, and more. The bursary includes a mandatory paid internship at Amazon during the summer vacation, where students are assessed for a potential full-time Software Development Engineer (SDE) role to begin upon graduation. The program focuses on real-world problem-solving with cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

• Complete a paid summer internship at Amazon, where they will be assessed for a permanent position
• Participate in training opportunities and events provided by Amazon
• Maintain strong academic performance (minimum 65% average)
• Demonstrate commitment to a career in software development engineering
• Accept full-time employment at Amazon for a period equal to the bursary support duration, if offered after internship assessment

Qualifications

• Be entering their final year of a 3-year degree OR third year of a 4-year degree in 2026
• Plan to pursue Honours (NQF Level 8) in 2027
• Be pursuing a degree in: Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• Information Technology
• Information Systems
• Computer Engineering
• Data Science / AI / Machine Learning (related specializations)
