Description

The Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary programme identifies and supports high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing qualifications in commerce. This initiative offers comprehensive financial support with the expectation that recipients will commit to a period of employment with Coronation upon graduation.

Responsibilities

  • This is a high-performance bursary with strict conditions; By accepting it, you agree to:
  • Work-Back Obligation: This is the core responsibility: You are contractually obligated to work for Coronation for every year of funding you receive; If you fail to do this, you must refund the full value of the bursary plus interest at the prime rate
  • Maintain Exceptional Academic Performance: You must maintain your high academic standard (likely the 70%+ average) throughout your degree to continue receiving funding
  • Full-Time Study Commitment: You must be a full-time student with no undisclosed paid employment; If it is discovered you are working or not studying full-time, the bursary will be terminated immediately and you must refund all amounts paid
  • Honesty and Disclosure: All information provided in your application, interviews, and subsequent communications must be accurate and truthful; Any misrepresentation will lead to the termination of the bursary and a requirement to refund all funds
  • Sign a Contract: Successful applicants must sign a formal bursary agreement provided by Coronation, which legally binds them to these terms

Qualifications

  • This bursary is for Commerce-related undergraduate degrees (NQF Level 7)
  • Preference is given to:
  • Data Analysis / IT Stream Degrees
  • Commerce Stream Degrees
  • Finance Stream Degrees
  • Computer Science Stream Degrees
  • Software/Computer Engineering Stream Degrees
  • This bursary is NOT for: N4-N6, Diplomas, Higher Certificates, Masters, PhDs, or students at TVET colleges, private colleges, or distance-learning institutions like UNISA
  • Eligibility Criteria:
  • Citizenship: South African citizen
  • Background: Preference for previously disadvantaged students
  • Academics:
  • Matriculants: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum 75% average, including Mathematics (not Math Literacy)
  • Tertiary Students: A minimum 70% average for the latest academic years
  • Study Status: Must be a full-time student in 2025 and intend to study full-time in 2026 at a DHET-accredited public university
  • Applicant Status: Open to:
  • 2025 Matric students
  • Students on a gap-year after matriculating in 2024
  • Current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-year undergraduate students
