Description

A Stoper fulfils a shift role in an underground stoping area to ensure a safe, quality blast per day. The role is responsible for the health and safety of the team, compliance with mining regulations, and the preparation and supervision of the stopping face.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety meetings and ensure all safety declarations and checks are completed (e,g, gas tests, fire drills)
• Prepare the mining face by checking ground conditions, installing support, and washing out blast holes
• Supervise the team, conduct on-the-job training, and maintain good employee relations

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Blasting Certificate
• 5 Years’ experience in mining
