Description

The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) invites students to apply for their 2025 bursary program. Bursaries will cover expenses such as registration, tuition, accommodation, prescribed study material, a laptop, and a monthly stipend. Priority fields include agriculture, business management, economics, education, engineering, science, health, information technology, law, and tourism, although applications in other fields are also welcome. Students with disabilities will receive additional assistance to support their learning.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve satisfactory academic results throughout the funded period to continue receiving bursary support
  • Represent the SIOC-CDT positively, adhering to the institution’s code of conduct and maintaining good behavior
  • Participate in any SIOC-CDT-related events, workshops, or mentoring programs as required
  • Submit regular academic progress reports and updates as requested by the SIOC-CDT
  • Engage in community service or projects, where applicable, to give back to the local community in line with SIOC-CDT values
  • Inform SIOC-CDT promptly if there are any changes to your academic status, institution, or financial needs

Qualifications

  • South African citizen
  • Under 35 years of age by the closing date
  • Residing in or originating from a SIOC-CDT beneficiary community (eg Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana, Joe Morolong, Thabazimbi Local Municipalities)
  • Currently in or completed Matric
  • Studying or intending to study full-time or part-time towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification at a recognized public institution in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the latest academic results
  • In financial need, with a household income below R600,000 per year
  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
