Description

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to academically talented South African students who lack financial means to pursue tertiary education. The bursary will support full-time studies at a public University, University of Technology, or TVET College in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Maintain satisfactory academic performance as per bursary requirements throughout the funded period
• Submit academic transcripts and proof of registration annually to IDC for continued funding
• Notify IDC of any academic or personal circumstances that may affect your studies or bursary agreement
• Adhere to the rules and regulations of the institution where you are enrolled
• Participate in any developmental or mentorship programs organized by IDC (if applicable)
• Repay the bursary in the form of work-back obligations, if stipulated in the bursary agreement
• Use the funding only for purposes approved under the bursary, including tuition, accommodation, transport, meals, and prescribed resources
• Represent IDC with integrity and professionalism during your studies and any public engagements related to the bursary
• Maintain regular communication with the IDC bursary administration team regarding your academic progress and any changes in your status
• Submit all required documents and comply with application deadlines and contractual terms

Qualifications

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must not be older than 26 years
• Must be currently in Grade 12 or have completed Grade 12
• Must intend to study full-time toward a first undergraduate qualification (postgraduate studies are only considered for Finance, Accounting, or Law)
• Must be accepted or provisionally admitted to a recognized public institution
• Matric students: minimum of 75% in most recent results
• Tertiary students: minimum of 65% in recent academic results
• Combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum
• Must demonstrate financial need and academic excellence
• Must be unemployed
