Description

The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) invites South African school leavers and students aged 15–35 to apply for its bursary programme. The bursary supports undergraduate studies at accredited institutions such as TVET Colleges, Universities of Technology, and Public or Private Universities. The RSR promotes academic development in key fields that support railway safety oversight and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the required academic performance and pass all modules each year
  • Attend classes, practicals, assessments, and all academic activities as required by the institution
  • Submit academic results, proof of registration, and any required documents to the RSR each year
  • Notify the RSR immediately if your course, institution, or personal details change
  • Use the bursary funds responsibly and only for approved study-related expenses
  • Participate in interviews, follow-ups, or assessments requested by the RSR

Qualifications

  • Must be a South African citizen between the ages of 15 - 35 years
  • Must not be funded or receiving financial assistance through a sponsorship or bursary scheme from any other institution or organisation
  • Must be available for an interview when requested and be willing to sign a Bursary Agreement
  • Must submit proof of registration/admission
  • Must be eligible to study for the specified qualification at the relevant institution of higher learning
  • For first-year applicants, Grade 11 results/Grade 12 mid-term results reflecting a minimum average of 65% must be submitted
